Jogging Strollers Make Good Exercise For New Mothers
17th July 2010 by Babies No CommentsIf any readers are still carrying excess weight after the birth of their baby I thoroughly recommend they get and use a jogger stroller. I gained 20 lbs more than I ought to have when I was expecting and I was a little worried about how I was going to shed all of that extra weight after my child was born. I had the feeling I might be stuck with it. One of the nurses at my physician’s surgery told me that I should consider buying a jogger stroller.
I had never been interested in jogging, but I loved to hike, so decided to follow her suggestion. Naturally, simply because it is called a jogger stroller doesn’t mean that you have to run with it. It’s simply designed to be more durable should parents be keen on working out while taking their infant for a stroll.
Initially, I was discouraged by the prices as I had no interest in paying out in excess of $100 for any kind of stroller, particularly as I already had one. Nevertheless, three weeks after my daughter was born, I was reconsidering that. I attempted to take her for walks outdoors but the standard stroller just seemed too big and awkward for walking at a faster speed. It was good for everyday uses but not for exercise.
So, again, I priced up the jogger strollers. My partner told me that it didn’t matter what the asking price was, as long as it would help get me out of the house and be fitter and happier again. We finished up getting a middle priced one for more than I wanted to spend, but less than what we could have spent. The minute we got home and figured out precisely how it worked and went together, I was away.
I was totally amazed at how fast I could shift and how much more comfortable it was for me to handle. What was still more unexpected was how quickly the baby fell asleep. I presume it offered a much smoother ride for him than the bulkier stroller had. She could be very grumpy prior to being placed in the stroller and then inside a few minutes of being strapped in, she was as pleased as can be.
I loved being in a position to be outside and not feeling like I was so stuck inside all of the time. There were times that it was dreary and wet, but fortunately, the buggy had a nice little roof for her and, with a waterproof for me, I was still happy. I was able to take off a few lbs every week.
The only other item of baby equipment which comes nearby to the usefulness of the jogging buggy is my baby beach tent which gives essential beach shelter on our outings to the shore.
