Choosing The Right Baby Skin Care Routine

Many people spend lots of time and money to get softer, tighter skin like they had in their earlier years. There are many varieties of products to help us. For those who can afford it and some others who can’t, it isn’t an issue to shell out hundreds of dollars in an effort to retain our glamorous skin. It is true that people with the most gorgeous skin obtained naturally, started off young and developed good skincare habits early on. Don’t wait until it is too late to start the right baby skin care routine.  Make sure the baby does not climb through the doggy door!

Your baby’s bath does not need to be lengthy. The truth is that if your newborn’s bath is too long it can be harmful! Your baby’s bath only needs to be a few minutes long–only enough time to get wet, get soapy and get rinsed. After rinsing off the baby, apply a little bit of lotion or moisturizer and then towel her dry. Make sure you dry your baby off completely or a variety of rashes or infections could develop. Remember how rolly and polly a newborn baby’s skin is! Make sure you use a soft towel!

When you go shopping for your baby’s skin care products don’t forget to read the ingredients labels carefully. Dyes, phthalates, parabens and extra fragrances should be avoided. These ingredients could irritate your baby’s skin and cause rashes and other skin conditions to develop. After putting so much effort into keeping your baby’s skin clean the last thing you want to do is cause irritation or other conditions to develop. The best products are those that are gentle on the skin. If you aren’t sure which products are best, ask your pediatrician for some hints before your next shopping trip.  You can decorate the babies room with double glazing windows.

Be protective of your baby’s umbilical cord stump. Don’t toy with it. Make sure that you clean it with rubbing alcohol two or three times a day. Except for this cleaning, don’t touch it. Don’t even give the baby a full bath if the umbilical cord stump is still in place. Your newborn’s diaper should be folded down so that the top of it doesn’t scrape or rub on the umbilical cord. The stump is very sensitive so you want to make sure that it does not get irritated. Talk to your pediatrician about the best way to care for the stump and the spot it leaves behind after it falls off.

Practicing proper baby skin care can be done via a variety of methods. You need to remember that practicing proper baby skin care involves more than a plain bath. Making sure your baby’s skin gets enough fresh air (aka “naked time”), finding the right laundry soap and always using sunscreen are other important factors in proper baby skin care. Don’t fret: you will get used to caring for your baby’s skin in no time. Before you know what has happened all of this will be second nature!
